As LDTs are, by current definition, developed within CLIA-certified laboratories that are already subject to a set of standards and regulations, FDA is considering establishing only a subset of Quality System regulations for these instances IF distribution of that IVD remains solely within that one lab. Time will tell how this exception pans out, but it’s worth noting.

    4. Compliance Timelines: Laboratories will be given a specific timeline to comply with the new regulations, depending on the risk classification of their LDTs. It is crucial to stay informed about these deadlines to ensure compliance.
