MedTech Color is a 501(c)(3) organization aiming to advance the representation of persons of color in the medical device industry. We are a destination and resource for professional development, thought leadership, and strategies to increase the number of underrepresented executives who enter, stay, and contribute to the industry.
MIP’s Work with MedTech Color
MIP’s Founder and Managing Partner, Kwame Ulmer, is also the Founder of MedTech Color. While he recently stepped down as Executive Director, he is still involved with working alongside the team to diversify the medical device industry through MedTech Color’s Collaborative Community, Pitch Competition and Annual Networking Breakfast.
MedTech Color 4th Annual Pitch Competition
African-American and Hispanic entrepreneurs receive less than 4% of venture capital funding. MedTech Color is standing up to help change that.
Launched in 2021, MedTech Color teamed up with industry-leading sponsors like Johnson & Johnson, ResMed, Olympus, and others to award over $865k to date in non-dilutive capital and in-kind services to African-American and Hispanic Founders to accelerate the growth of their Medtech startup.
The MedTech Color Pitch Competition is a foundational start for medical technology early-stage startups creating innovative technologies. We’re looking for cutting-edge startups led by African-American and Hispanic founders to take the stage for a live competition, showcase their products or services that will directly benefit patients, and tell their story of WHY.
This year’s Pitch Competition takes place on March 15, 2023 at Covel Commons on the UCLA Campus.
